Baby Shower Sheet Cakes

Baby shower is an event held to welcome the new baby. Usually large number of people attend the party and congratulate the mother. Gifts are given with best wishes. Celebration is made with cakes and sweets. In most of the cultures baby shower sheet cakes are traditional and made as if it were for baby. It is decorated with soft lines and rosettes of light pastel colors having a symbolic babyhood. On the cake there is a written message such as “congratulations” or “It's a Boy!” or “It's a Girl!” Baby shower sheet cakes can be baked at home. It saves your money, which you have to spend to purchase a professionally baked cake. You can make one that matches to your party theme. It could add a creative flair to your party's overall design. Baby shower sheet cakes are baked in a single layer to serve more guests. You can make a baby shower sheet cake easily even if you are a novice baker because it do not requires stacking which is difficult for a novice. You can serve the cake in the baking pan too.

Baby shower sheet cakes are usually made in soft colors such as light pink, light yellow, light blue or violet. The color on top of the cake is same as the color on sides because the whole cake is covered with butter cream frosting. You can use white color for the base frosting.

To make a baby shower sheet cake; preheat the oven to 400 degrees. Spray the baking pan with a cooking spray and dust it with flour. Make the cake batter and pour it in to the pan. Bake the cake batter for 20-25 minutes. Insert a toothpick in the middle of the cake to check weather it is baked thoroughly or not. If the toothpick comes out clean it is time to remove the cake from the oven. Allow it to cool in the pan. Take a can of vanilla icing and mix red or blue food color to get either a light pink or light blue color. Spread the icing on top of the cake with a spatula. Make the base icing same way. Pipe the edges of the baby shower sheet cake with the help of a pastry bag. You can make rosettes or ribbons along the edges using either a flower tip or smooth round tip. Same border is made around the lower edge of the cake. Do not mix many colors in cake; it should be simple and soft. Add the decorations you made. The final step is to serve the cake to the guests directly from the baking pan.
